Morningside Cottage is the ideal holiday base from which to enjoy a variety of activities, including mountain biking, fishing, walking and golf. The area is also rich in culture, with stately homes, castles, galleries, museums, gardens and Edinburgh within easy reach.

The renowned 7Stanes mountain bike trails offer dedicated tracks laid out to suit all abilities. Considered by many to offer the best mountain biking in the UK and with magnificent views, the tracks at Innerleithen start 500 yards from the property and host the famous Red Bull downhill races. Just down the road at Glentress, guests can enjoy a wider range of tracks in stunning woodland surroundings. These can one directly accused on a bike following the recently built riverside track.

For fishing enthusiasts, the banks of the River Tweed are only 500 yards away, with the local shop offering day permits. The river is famous for salmon and brown trout. Rainbow trout can also be caught in local lochs.

The unspoilt countryside is ideal for walkers and wildlife enthusiasts. With the town of Innerleithen set in a valley and surrounded by hills, you are spoilt for choice with many walks from the doorstep. The Southern Upland Way passes up the road t Traquair. You can also visit the Grey Mare’s Tail – a waterfall with fabulous views. Ospreys can be observed at two local viewing areas.

Historic Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital, is easily accessed, with buses running every 30 minutes. With its beautiful cityscape, world-class museums and galleries, historic castle and beautiful shops, you are sure to find plenty to do.
